- Cubs loss to the Indians 5 to 4. Bradley returns and goes 1-3 with a double.
- Cub scouts have been monitoring Bobby Crosby for the A's, who is owed 5.25 million dollars this year in his contract year. Crosby has come out and say he wants to start everyday, but he won't in Oakland due to the arrivals of Nomar "Nomah" Garciaparra and Orlando Cabrera. But one source familiar with the Cubs thinking said there's nothing to the rumor.
- Joe Beimel has been rumored to be on the Cubs radar, due to his price falling significantly.

Grab Beimel Immediately. Lou was saying on Tonights broadcast he'd like to have 4 reliable guys at the backend of the bull pen. He has 2 in Marmol and Gregg, but he need 2 more to step up. What about Heilman and Beimel? This would allow Marshall to grab the fifth spot.
ReplyDeleteThe Bull Pen would most likely look like this:
Marmol (closer)
Gregg (set up)
Beimel (set up)
Heilman (set up)
Cotts (middle relief)
Vizcaino or Guzman winner (middle relief) loser gets traded. Probably be easier to move Guzman.
Gaudin (long relief)
Smardizja goes to Iowa to start.
Stevens and Hart will go to Iowa in a relief role.
Id be happy with that Bullpen. Looks improved from last year.
BTW id rather trade away Vizcaino then Guzman but i dont see it happening. Who knows maybe someone gets hurt in ST and no one gets traded.
ReplyDeleteFor the record i see the cubs rotation looking like this:
Zambrano
Dempster
Lilly
Harden
Marshall.
Line Up:
Soriano
Fontenot
Lee
Bradley
Ramirez
Soto
Fukudome
Theriot
Bench:
Johnson
Gathright
Miles
Hill
Corey Koskie (?) (I dont see it being Hoff. It could be someone we swap for Guzman who could also be out of options)
