Cuts...Breakout Candidate...Notes

Right-handers Mitch Atkins, Jeff Stevens, and Justin Berg were optioned to Triple-A Iowa. Right-hander Marcos Mateo was optioned to Double-A Tennessee. Five non-roster invitees were assigned to the Minor League camp: C Welington Castillo; IFs Darwin Barney and Luis Rivas; and OFs Doug Deeds and Jason Dubois. The roster now is 45 players, including 22 pitchers, four catchers, 10 infielders, and nine outfielders.

  4. Alex Gordon 3B, Royals
  5. Chris Davis 1B/3B, Rangers
  6. Jose Lopez 2B, M's
  7. Sean Marshall/Aaron Heilman SP, DA CUBS
  8. Oliver Perez SP, Mets (Finally hit his potential consistency)

NOTES:
  • Carlos Zambrano second-favorite team is the White Sox.
  • Corey Koskie will start every other day for the rest of Spring Training at 3B.
  • Joey Gathright has picked up some grillz. He missed Tuesday's game duo to a Dentist apartment.
  • Fischer Price (Milton Bradley) still has the flu.
  • Derrek Lee has a tight quad, and is day-to-day.
  • Possibly with confirmation, the Cubs are set to retire the #31 for Greg Maddux and Ferguson Jenkins.
